@domi I think most of my Alpines are using syslinux, so at least it's also not the pain that's grub.

@domi Like in terms of grub pains I got, you can probably guess them from https://hacktivis.me/git/grub-nomagic-scripts/files.html

@toast @domi >no idea why anyone uses grub nowadays tbhLUKS support even though it leaves a lot to be desired in grub. I was too lazy to reinstall Windows on my laptop with a bigger ESP partition and the Windows default is way too small for a kernel and initrd.

@phnt @domi @toast Have they added LUKS2 support yet? Either way just putting the unlock routines in initrd is easier and more flexible (e.g. you could put an ssh server in there for remote unlock).

@mint @domi @toast From Arch WikiInitial LUKS2 support was added to GRUB 2.06, but with several limitations that are only partially addressed in GRUB 2.12rc1. See GRUB bug #55093.Since GRUB 2.12rc1, grub-install can create a core image to unlock LUKS2. However, it only supports PBKDF2, not Argon2.Argon2id (cryptsetup default) and Argon2i PBKDFs are not supported (GRUB bug #59409), only PBKDF2 is.Basically it might as well not have support for it.

@domi Had to search for gummiboot.Didn't expect to find this.So often I search for the name of some tech thing and end up getting jumpscared by something mundane and I never see it coming.
