42⁰c today. Swam a kilometre, empty pool at the YMCA was beautiful. Off to the Tydvil Pub for a cold beer to see off a brilliant workmate. Stay well, you lot on the #fediverse xx

@morph @tregeagle I've only suffered 42ºC a couple of times and it's horrible to say the least my mind can't comprehend how people can live in places where that temperature is normal for summer.

@ghostdancer @tregeagle I think I experienced that only once and it was absolutely horrible.

@morph @ghostdancer I used to live in Brisbane which is very hot and humid in the summer. The heat combined with the humidity sapped my energy, it was horrible. Out here in the desert the dry heat is a very different experience. Evaporative coolers actually work. Our houses can remain cool and the heat whilst too hot, is not so bad. #DryHeat #BrokenHill

@tregeagle @ghostdancer I remember times when summer was made for leaving the house and enjoy the sun. This period is rather short nowadays. Well ... talking about the ~24°C perfect day. 😎P.S. As kids we were left home from school when reaching 27°C because of the heat. 🙈

@morph @ghostdancer yep we spent most of our summers on our bicycles and camping in fields, woods or on beaches. With this current heat my teenager spends his time hiding from the heat in a dark room and socialising via controlled networks. It's all a bit backwards. To be fair I live in a very different land from 50yrs ago.
