@dilf @deprecated_ii i have a pinned thread on it. you can take 50k a day for months if not years, as long as you're taking vitamin k2.

@dilf the recommended daily allowance is too low by about a factor of 20 because they made statistical errors when they were interpreting the data. very few people working in medicine have any meaningful statistical trainingthis mistake was identified at least 12 years ago (2014 paper) but the institute of medicine never corrected their guidelines

@deprecated_ii @dilf very few people working in medicine can do basic sums with numbres above 2000, it is terrifiying to see a doctor trying to calculate how many miligrams of a medicament to use based off the patient's body weight and struggle doing multiplications in spite of using a cellphone calculator...

@DC5FAN @dilf based on my experience and what I've read I'd consider 5k a reasonable starting point that's kinda on the low sideI started with 5k and when I saw benefits I went up to 10k. I've been doing 10k for several years

@deprecated_ii Shit, I had a doctor at the VA clinic write me a prescription for 5k IU dose 8x a day back in ~2012. She straight up said the gov't standards are way off and it would help catch up with the poor nutrition I had been getting in the Navy.

The wombo combo is zinc picolinate 20-30mg or so (up to 50mg), vitamin D 10-20k IU, quercetin 500mg, and vitamin C <=1000mg.Obviously start with low doses on a single thing at a time and build up, check for reactions etc.I also like to stop supplements every once in a while for a week or so just to shake things up a little, not sure if that's wise or not.You can also take things like iodine (nascent or Lugol's), magnesium glycinate, selenium, etc. if it makes you feel better but I don't really notice much difference. Sometimes I use magnesium as a natural sleep aid.

Supplements are a crapshoot but Nordic Naturals seems pretty good for vitamin D. For the cheaper end of the spectrum but still generally recognized as "not toxic Chinese shit" there's NOW supplements. Double Wood seems alright, though they did do a reward-for-5-star-review scheme for a while that tarnished their reputation. Bioschwartz is good for turmeric+Bioperine (great substitute for ibuprofen that won't wreck your kidneys). The problem is these brands are constantly getting bought and sold, and even if the ownership stays the same, they have to keep sourcing their stuff from different places. That introduces a very real and terrifying risk that you might ingest something from Inda. Even worse is a lot of these "independent" labs don't seem to be so independent. And every* brand will tell you they're not like all those other toxic brands, no matter how expensive or cheap. So it comes down to researching as much as you can and ultimately trusting your gut.
