Some time ago I blogged that I felt the complicity of Evangelical Christianity was going to damage the Christian "brand" in the US and create a decline spiral. After seeing many faith leaders stand up for Minnesota, I be wrong.

@RevXenoFact During the rise of unhinged right-wing Christianity in the Reagan years, a friend said something along the lines of "Man, you musta got hold of some BAAAADDDD Jesus." I think there has always been a right/left political split among Evangelicals. Some are bolting to the left side, or at least grudgingly agreeing with them. But I'm afraid a substantial portion of them are too sold on RW BS to give it up. Sunk cost phenomenon, as the shrinks say.

@RevXenoFact I’m about to send a message to my right-wing evangelical family in the US that we’re not traveling to the US for the time being, and I’m explicitly blaming Trump and MaGa for it. I’m curious how they will reply, I honestly don’t know where they stand now, re: this discussion on left/right. ‘Sunk costs’ does seem the likely scenario unfortunately tho.

@thomas_klopf @RevXenoFact it's common sense now. If I was an expatriate, I'd stay put.

@johnhattan @RevXenoFact I’m renting camping spots in the back yard if anyone needs it, discount for SubGenius. Downstairs bathroom can be used if you go through the garage.

@Spud_Coolzip @RevXenoFact This is apparently a cyclical phenomenon across generations in America: (1) kooky new religions flourish, so (2) mainstream churches get reactionary, so (3) conservative politicians hoodwink frightened religious voters to seize power and then make everything objectively worse for everyone on behalf of the elites they really serve, so (4) religion retreats into spirituality and introspection, so (1) kooky new religions flourish…
