       @GrungeQueef https://www.voidtools.com/ and i'll never go back if i'm using windows.for linux there *was* find, mlocate, and, in a desperate pinch, rg or ag (ripgrep or silver surfer).I don't think everything indexes file contents (probably doesn't by default), which is something that was a cute proof of concept in winXP (or 2k? i don't recall). on my machines searching for files on 2k/xp_x64 was real quick but content search was hit or miss and easily 100 times slower (20+ seconds vs 200ms)

       Ripgrep or grep for text content is fine. I can recurse my client files in seconds and pump the results into fzf. For pdf or docx or odt, etc, just use cron to run a script to convert to hidden text files nightly.
