       @meeper I have the opposite view which is that fandom and fan fiction allow the corporate slave locusts to wrest control of art away from true artists. Most fan fic is women forcing every thing to alight with their same 5 yaoi stereotypes and corporations actively promote this with the mass promotion of fan based marketing.So much modern IP id about butchering classics to align with fan fic expectations like final fantasy 7 remake or spider verse :marseysick:

       @KaiserKitty that's much more a symptom of a poor  culture forged in bad conditions, and actual capable writers too worried about copyright aboos leading to extremely committed deviant amatuers being the only writersRobin Hood (afai an remember, came from a bunch of successively added tales of ballads) and likewise and more approriately King Arthur which was made from a series of successive english and french fanfictoins of an anglo-britonish base story.Imo it's entirely natural and the correct state of things
