@LoliHat @Hoss @hakui very true I there was a place up the road from the forge I worked at who worked aluminum forging that's how I know u need a breathing apparatus they had to wear it and it was a much slower hammer that went so slow it took just one operator ours worked so fast u needed 3 positions, the forge op1 and op2 who would run the hammer, and 2 forge op3's one who ran the rolling machine that shaped and one who ran the trim press. It was pretty fun I got burned alot and most people were missing fingers

On the other hand investment grade wines only gain value in time but also have to be contained in perfect condition throughout the life to preserve it. Asteroid mining makes sense because there's a shitload of surface area out there, so you can pick and choose what you're interested in. On earth there's comparatively little exposed surface so for anything interesting, you have to dig. But working in space sucks...Another thing to watch is deep hole drilling. Limitation of drilling is:1. You need to transmit power down to the bit, so you need some kind of shaft/rod/hose/wire (in practice they currently use rotating shafts).2. Mechanical bits dull, and then you need to pull them all the way up to change them outSo drilling costs rise with the square of the depth. But there's some research on using laser / magnetron to burn away rock because you can power them with a wire, and they don't dull.What is invented for geothermal and oil might be repurposed for prospecting...

Well, space elevators get your tools and people off earth, but that's not a reoccurring cost here. if junior mining is a game it'd be more like battleship/minesweeperyou have a large map and start out with a certain amount of moneypossible actions:-drill (cost: $)shows the value of a 1x1 tile, but it doesn't go into your money stockpile-mine (cost: $$$$$)recovers the value of all tiles in a 10 tile radiusthing is, most of the map has 0 value tiles and the ones that have value are relatively clustered. the goal is to see how long can you go before you run out of money
