Fallout 1 and 2 are extremely simple and straightforward games and both are extremely easy to break and trivialize. There is no great challenge in any of them and in Fallout 1 you stand more of a chance of being trapped and softlocked behind an AI companion you cannot ask to move than you do actually dying.Great fun though and classics for a reason but they are not unapproachable at all.

@DrRyanSkelton do people act like they're esoteric because they're isometric? I'm realizing a lot of people don't try; I remember seeing a video of someone playing and spending hours trying to find rope, but the moment I went to Shady Sands I bartered with the front guard and he had rope readily available.

The graphics aren't super ultra high rez 4k uncompressed bitmaps combined with a fuckhueg minimap with 8000 objective markers so it's "esoteric" because your average normalfag can't rub two braincells together.

I would forgive Bethesda SLIGHTLY for this as by Fallout 2 it seemed like they were in a rush to put as many movie references they could in the game. It is not a setting I would accuse of great levels of coherence. Bethesda definitely took it in a very different direction though.

@Goalkeeper @DrRyanSkelton @bleedingphoenix I'm old enough that I had played both fallout 1 and 2 shortly after they came out, along with fallout tactics, and this was well before bethesda bought the franchise and made fallout 3. At the time of 3s release, All the og fans thought 3 was OK, but not a very good successor, and not really a true fallout game at all. We called it oblivion with guns.I stopped playing Bethesda games after skyrim. Bethesda sucks since Todd the faggot took over. Morrowind was their last great game IMO.
