That's why linux will never get market share past 15% even with the rate its growing. People buy a computer and just use it, they aren't looking to actually DO anything with it. Simplicity doesn't necessarily mean gutting out any of the options, that mostly happens with corporations because they never wanted any options for the end user to begin with but were forced to as it was just too impractical and would've sunk a company if done too early. Valuing complexity too highly ironically causes similar issues as the "over-simplification" megacorps do (which to be fair, is actually over-complication and obfuscation with a fake front of simplification to make it seem better to an end user) in which only the experts are able to meaningfully do anything and anyone less informed or involved is left behind.

It also threw out cryptic errors in the GUI resolved by using the command line to do it, threw a false "upgrade failed" message, and whatnot. Flat hub in discover has your Chromes and Steams and Discords and Telegrams. Though the issue is you need to do more complex stuff. You need to understand how RPM OSTree works, and most Linux guides will not help you then. Like some nerd tells you to paste sudo dnf install library into your terminal, you’ll need to mentally adjust the command.

If you are just using web apps then you don’t have this issue. Open discover, type chrome, click big green download button. Boom you have all your web apps now.
