@waifu Literally had file explorer crash on me the other day. I use this OS for like five minutes a week at work and it still finds a way to fuck up.

@waifu when I had to use a windows laptop at my last linux job I used dolphin filemanager via WSL instead of the standard windows one. Everything microsoft makes is laggy and slow. And constantly tries to sync into the cloud so oftentimes I couldnt even find my files.

@RustyCrab @waifu zip is a notoriously old and extended format, differing implementations will fail on extensions or not handle expected bugs

@RustyCrab @waifu given that the overwhelming majority of .7z files in history have been made with 7zip, it's on Microsoft to make sure their integration works exactly like a FREE SOFTWARE they can ACCESS THE CODE OF

@waifu I have a laptop they gave out recently at work which unfortunately has win11 and noticed the whole machine freezes for 2 seconds while extracting small zip files despite being very powerful hardware so I immediately set 7zip as the primary opener for all files. I can only guess the retards are literally doing the decompression computations in JavaScript for it to be that bad.

@benis_redux @RustyCrab @waifu Other than the proprietary unrar component that is totally unacceptable, 7zip is under the LGPL-2.1-or-later and microsoft does their absolute best to not give the users freedom.microsoft instead integrated libarchive, as proprietary software, as it's under a weak license.
