       I often think "ugh, having to configure every package on Gentoo by hand is so annoying", but then remember that having to be at the mercy of the packagers in other distros and not being able to easily make modifications if needed is superannoying.

       @teratology I want to be able to modify packages as I want and need to. Like, for example, the kernel. I enable some things, and for a good chunk of time had my own patch for a thing. There's also other software, I used to patch qt to disable a font rendering feature. Doing that with other distros (aside of nixOS I guess) is annoying to deal with. On Gentoo that's 1st class stuff.

       @teratology the USE flags are also nice, being able to choose what I want. I enable most features in most things I see, and disable stuff that I don't think I want.
