why does this say 'by default', not only it's not configurable on Mastodon, but the values are not specified in /api/{v1,v2}/instance

it makes sense for some other values, like max post length, which even though not configurable, is defined by Instance object and app devs can adhere to it. But Mastodon doesn't specify this. GoToSocial has an extension for this (configuration[accounts][max_profile_fields]). Pleroma has an extension under its own namespace (pleroma[metadata][fields_limits][max_fields]). Mastodon doesn't.

I’ll keep complaining about stuff like the api_versions field that, if designed better, could be helpful to alternative implementations, but instead it merely duplicates the version information. But it’s nice to see such improvements getting merged. Will try to make more of them.

@mkljczk @phnt I just checked my github settings and there's a bunch of stuff on by default in copilot settings, including that

@fedicat @mkljczk Where is it even? The "Copilot settings" are largely unhelpful.

@fedicat @phnt It's probably this option, might be exclusive to Copilot Pro (which I got access to as part of GitHub Student Developer Pack)

@phnt @mkljczk I don't see it now, I might have got it confused with the copilot suggested commit comments option. Also the share data for product improvements was on.
