This was me the last 3 hours. What a fucken cluster fuck... Its finally done. Thermal stressing gpu/cpu together now. @thefinn @Paleface Btw amd 5800x gets pretty hot. Set it to 75c limit with a smooth throttle curve from the bios to avoid hickups.. Its boosting at 4,4 at that very low temp. Not bad. Max boost at default goes all the way to 4.9 but hits close to 90c. Apparently that's normal but hell no. If that's the temp with tne giant tower cooler i have, i don't want it. Gigabyte 5070ti is behaving exactly like the previous gigabyte 2070 i had. Cool quiet even at boost. No issues do far stress testing. Also, @thefinn yes i had to use a bit of tape somewhere fuck you 😁

@Kalogerosstilitis2RevengeoftheJunta @thefinn @Paleface Did you go aircooling or watercooling for CPU?Got a 2 fan watercooling set for intake, and the AMD CPU now sits nicely at 70-75c. Was 80-90 while using air from inside casing.

@Appelmoesje @thefinn @Paleface Aircooling only. Have a big double 12cm fan coolermaster tower. Its fine but the fan can max at 2500rpm so it can be loud. At 1200 they're barely audible. Of course noctuas are vastly better. But im sticking with air cooling.

@petra @thefinn @Paleface Drivers? Im dealing with it now. The motherboard was tricky. Its old but gigabyte supports new am4 processors. The 5800xt is literally a 2025 model. But you need 1 bios update then a specific little chip firmware upgrade to accept tje lster newer type of bios, the one more bios update then the final one. I was lucky. Nothing failed for me. And the m/b has a backup bios so you can't really brick it. But other am4 motherboards from other brands just need a bios update. Assuming they do support them.

@Kalogerosstilitis2RevengeoftheJunta @thefinn @Paleface Yeah I found a way to undervolt my 5800x to stop that horrible temperature spike when it boosts. Even watercooled I couldn't keep it from getting close to 90c at full load (not that that happens a lot mind, but still). There is an CPU Core Voltage off-set value you can set to negative to stop the CPU from trying to draw so much power. I set mine to -0.05 and the max temps dropped down to 75c at full load, still the same performance. Or you can turn the boost off completely and just run the CPU at 4.4Ghz all the time, you can even undervolt it a bit and still get that.

@CrazedWeevil @thefinn @Paleface There's a specific setting in my bios. Max temp. Then it has another where you can set the throttle curve so that you don't get any hiccups. So i did it that way. Works fine. Max 75 and after 30min prime+furmark (to get max heat in the case) combined it stabilized at 4,4 ghz. Its as quiet as i want it at normal fan settings in the bios. Success. Stable too no crash do far under stressIll ai stress it once i finish all the software for it.
