       @Crell is that a good thing though? i definitely like it as an occasional web developer, but it puts the burden of implementation on browsers.  from maintainability perspective, it seems much better to have them implement only a standardized javascript runtime and load cool features as libraries. i know i'm years late to cry, but this is how we ended up with only two or three "real" browsers, chromium having giant monopoly :/

       @stepan There are tradeoffs, certainly. But a fully extensible pluggable system is just as hard, and results in petabytes of extra network traffic. And is much harder to use.The componentized web is built on wasm and web components. But a layout engine (CSS) is hard no matter what you do.
