@john_darksoul @Rwoeidk They just aren't what they used to be. People hate on Steve, but it was him and the rigid adherence to the HIG that made them something to be respected. Now they're only coasting downhill. I stick around because everything else is still mostly worse in the ways that matter to me.

@john_darksoul My iPhone 16 Pro or whatever the fuck this is can *almost* make it through a day. I do rely on it to receive calls and do navigation quite a lot, so if yours idles more maybe it'll be fine. I heard the 17s are vastly more efficient and don't suffer like older models. There are some graphical features you can disable to get battery life back but I decided fuck it, let it ride.What really griped me out was how the browser interactions changed. It's like two taps in the bottom right to get where one used to take me.

@Rwoeidk @john_darksoul I've been an Apple user for 21 years and while I still like their stuff mostly, it doesn't thrill me like it used to. My first Mac was a joy to use every day. The recent UI adjustments mostly bug me for adding clicks where they didn't used to be.

@ACL9000 @Rwoeidk @john_darksoul I’m using both right now and I find the Liquid Glass (autocapitalized and cringe) to be fine. It’s a UI and people need to stop being so silly. My android UI feels crappy by comparison, like going from windows XP to 98. I miss being able to save videos though.

@ACL9000 @Rwoeidk @john_darksoul I have like 15 years more Android experience, and I think the ios keyboard works in a different way from android. Android gives you dead center of touch and iOS feels like it drops a bit below center to account for user POV. Or I might be backwards, but either way they are NOT the same. Also gboard on iOS sucks balls and doesn’t have the few features I actually like (long press for punctuation). The main keyboard thing I miss from Android is highlighting word(s) and pressing the capitalization button once to capitalize the first letter(s) or twice to do the whole word(s).

They have ONE set of devices and software to work out bugs on and theres a lot of dumb quirks I keep running into like that. I was one of the lucky people who literally could not open garage band while connected to Bluetooth without it instantly crashing (a supposedly ”rare” bug). I’m used to dumb quirks on Android, but I could always find a workaround because it was an over glorified micro pc with a crap UI.

My sail foam is basically a requirement for my job, and Apple plays better with the security settings than Android for a lot of reasons.
