       more seriously, 6 hours doesn't seem like enough integration time for this. but i did try some different color palettes (veralux alchemy in siril makes this much easier to do than doing it with pixel math - though the latter is much more flexible):"natural"HOOpseudo SHOpseudo SOHthe narrowband normalization really eats into my h-alpha signal (which is my guess for the increase in noise). it also doesnt help that my strecthes are not identical in all 4 cases (5 if you count :daily_dose:). noise notwithstanding, SOH is probably my favorite, though HOO is pretty nice too. noise withstanding, the natural look is probably best.

       I'm gonna gather more data for this target, but in the meantime, could you guys gimme some feedback on what color scheme you like best. Please boost, I wanna know wlhow good or bad fedi's astro tastes are. The choice order matches the image order

       @SuperSnekFriend the red from the hydrogen really overpowers the blue from the oxygen here which adds to the foreboding imo. Also depending on your tastes it looks kind like :lefthandgrab: :righthandgrab: or goatse

       @karna That's a hard one. I like how HOO looks, but since you're mapping oxygen to two channels, it has less information than SHO does. So I think I like SHO more (though I like how blue everything gets with SOH), though I also really like "natural" colors too (though that also usually means you get less signal than with narrowband).I'll pick SOH.

       @Elliptica I want to really like HOO but its probably the noisiest one because of what you described. The natural one is however the h-alpha and o-iii signals map to the bayer matrix of my osc camera without any kind of normalization to make the signals balanced. And since there is more hydrogen here, the red overpowers the oxygen a lot. With the other palettes I normalize the relative strengths of the H and O signals to get more balance but it increases the noise level a fair amount because of the weaker oxygen
