And while both Celts and Germanics are indo-european peoples, there are a few differences.Not that it warranted the treatment the English crown dispensed upon then. Treating your neighbors like they have treated the Irish is rather reprehensible.

       @greenshoots @pepsi_man @Fash-E Genetic studies show little change from pre and post Saxon, Angle and Jute incoming. Most "Anglo-Saxons" were British cultural and linguistic and I guess religious converts. The British isles (including Ireland) genetic pot hasn't been massively stirred since the Bell Beaker peoples. The Irish will on balance have less Anglo-Saxon intrusion, but there's been so much cross Irish Sea migration and admixture anyway. As for he said she said history I don't really care, but yeah brother wars bad.
