@eris I think everyone who complains about "swerfs" and being "anti sex work" and who "supports sex workers" should be forced to spend a week servicing truck stops and another week getting raped on camera while high on benzos

@scathach@stereophonic.space @eris@yourwalls.today because anyone using the term "SWERF" or "sex work" is promoting the sex trade and also deliberately obfuscating the distinctions between prostitution, trafficking, pimping, stripping, escorting, and camming. The idea that all of these "occupations" are created equally is a blatant falsehood, and it's disgusting that OnlyFans camgirls are now the face of what is supposed to be normalized as if everyone on that platform is successful, or barely breaking even. They don't want to discuss the disproportionate amount of racialized women and children under sexual slavery, or how over represented trans and gay youth are.At the end of the day sex trade abolitionists are more effective at introducing legal protections than the "sex work is work" crowd. American legislators are often only willing to decriminalization of "sex work" when the groups above are lumped in with sex trafficking victims. Anyone worth their salt realizes this is often the result of systemic oppression, and that sex trafficking as a legal term requires elements such as force, fraud, and coercion. But the "choice" narrative perpetuates victim-blaming. Sex trade abolitionists in Hawai'i were the ones who led the first successful legislative campaign to pass a law to remove the requirement that someone with a prostitution conviction must prove they were a trafficking victim to have their record erased. When a right to exit campaign was proposed with a monthly income for "sex workers" desiring to leave the trade, the "sex work is work crowd" pushed against it because they felt the sex trade was demonized and that it portrayed "sex workers" as victims that needed saving. My friend led that campaign and that's how she knows.
