       @km the problem with this is that the individual republics would be weak, lacking the proper resources, money and infrastructure to be self-sufficient, so they would quickly get absorbed by a neighboring power, and eventually you'd have a country shaped suspiciously like modern russia, probably ruled by ethnic russians or chinese.
