@brokenshakles @TrevorGoodchild @johndarksouls Yeah. Serious curbs to high frequency trading too. Exchanges forced to shut down specific servers. This is to ensure we dont americanize the market (alladin et al and bubbles).

@IAMAL_PHARIUS @TrevorGoodchild @johndarksouls I'm of the opinion that HFT has no market value and should be prohibited entirely. I note however, that the price of silver on KITCO pumped hard on the 9th, when the first restriction was put into place.

@brokenshakles @TrevorGoodchild @johndarksouls Im not familiar with kitco. But even in shanghai there are otc option contracts for futures. (Short call etc) This is just a speed bump put in place so the small fry dont get raped.https://www.whalesbook.com/news/English/Commodities/Ch...

@IAMAL_PHARIUS @TrevorGoodchild @johndarksouls Forgive me, I'm not exactly certain of the effects. Does it mean that they can only open that many contracts per day, or does it limit the total number contracts open period?

@brokenshakles @TrevorGoodchild @johndarksouls This is specific for futures.Ok say you're a exchange member. You have a certain deposit specific to that member account. The commodity you're speculating is something you (company) consume monthly and the contracts are based on a schedule. Contracts are also standardized in volume called lots. As a consumer of the commodity you want to ensure supply without paying an unexpectedly high price for it. But you cant exactly buy and store physically half a years supply of commodity. So you buy a specific months call option(paper). When that month arrives and you start buying the actual physical commodity, you check against the paper trade you made months ago. You can either sell that contract away or margin call physical delivery(because your supplier is asking a higher prices than the paper contract you bought months ago).∆This is is good, safe and what futures are intended to do.Now imagine if some quant big brain nigger decides to spin up ais specifically to look at the bids and asks from balance month to front month. Said ai opens a position (sell) and closed it (buy) multiple times a day at computer speed. Specifically targeting meat hands. The quant (deepseek etc, probably not dont come after me) makes alot of money by introducing alot of momentum in the market but it costs both suppliers and consumers.

@IAMAL_PHARIUS @TrevorGoodchild @johndarksouls The TL,DR of it, is that it is digital coin shaving. No one benefits except the rent seeker.
