@lain well yeah, but on the off chance there's a xenoblade 4 limited edition console, I'd like to get that instead. If only monolith would sell out more. I'd buy their slop. (Hasn't bought a single figurine in his life)

Starting to get better at solving the cube. When I was a kid, I could only do the first layer by myself but now I only need to consult the guide for one or two algorithms

@VD15 nice. I got into Rubik cubes a couple years ago, and got myself a fancy one with magnets and configurable spin tightness, and was doing pretty well. But then I stopped and forgot everything, now I tried again a couple weeks ago and only got the first layer done.I'm gonna dive into it again. It's a pretty cool puzzle that helps keep your brain sharp, especially when you get past the "algorithm" phase and actually understand how the pieces move, so you can do the bullshit the speedcubers do. It gives you a knack in logic, patterns and 3D positioning.I also have a 2x2 cube, and I recommend picking one. It's way different, at the same time simpler but also harder, because there is no "safe spot" you can use to hold pieces that are in the right position, when you move it, you'll always move everything and ruin the side you had done. So it forces you to understand the 3D positioning and movements.

@Suzu Yeah, I'm definitely feeling that now. I've got a sort of intuitive sense for everything up to the second layer but beyond that I'm still trying to memorise the mnemonics.I had a 4x4 when I was a kid, but one of the pieces broke and the whole thing fell apart after a while. I'm thinking of getting one once I learn how to do a 3x3 from memory. I heard, larger cubes are all are identical to a 3x3 once you've solved the faces and edges. Or at least the 21x21x21 cube I saw a youtube video on was.

I can actually do the 3x3 consistently now. There's still one algorithm that I occasionally get wrong, but only because I can never remember which way I need to rotate one of the faces. It's a nice little fidget toy for when I'm waiting on something. I've got a 4x4 on the way that I'm going to move on to next

@VD15 What resources did you use for the algos. My young son is into his, and I was thinking about getting him a GoCube, but I'm open to just giving him a guide if he can understand it.

@JollyWizard I've just been using the solving guide that rubik's post on their website. I'm not really looking to get into speed cubing or anything, so just a basic solve is fine for me.I did use an "alternative" mnemonic for the final algorithm in the solve: I basically transposed that video of the two indian men shouting "fuck you" each other onto the algorithm, so any time I need to do the final layer, I just replay this video in my head. It works on my machine™️

@JollyWizard Yeah, they have a PDF guide for every 'official' size that you can download or print off: https://www.rubiks.com/solution-guidesI used it for the first couple of solves, then gradually tried to commit more and more algorithms to memory

@VD15Congrats! I only ever really bothered with 3x3x3 but I did get pretty good at speed (for casual solving, I don't speed cube)

@Beefki tbh 3x3 is still the only cube I can do from memory and I feel like I'm geting pretty fast with it. I can almost do a 4x4 from memory now, but I'm still nowhere near with the 5x5 lol

@VD15I picked up doing Roux and I like it a lot, but mostly because there's less algos to remember than CFOP and I'm retarded.
