So I tried to extend my NOD32 (antivirus) subscription but there's a weird error on the payment page, they probably vibecoded it or whatever. This made me wonder what the best antivirus program (for Windows 10) is these days, maybe I should switch..But how does one crowdsource such knowledge these days?In the good times, you would probably check some Reddit thread, but since Reddit is becoming an AI-infested walled garden..Anyone here know maybe? What is everyone using for Windows antivirus? Or should I just go without? (I'm only using it for audio production and (legal) games, so it's not that I'm ever installing anything weird on it.. but still.. feels dangerous lol)

@bazkie@beige.partyTrust Pilot is likely the culprit here, I recall it being somehow related to payments and without cookies it's unlikely to work.Check out Privacy Possum extension for Firefox — I believe it was created by the same developer, not for EFF, but on their own. It seems to me it's just as good, but requires way less manual intervention.

@m0xEE honestly I think ESET is the culprit here for using all this external stuff 🤣 I'm happy it gets blocked!

@bazkie@beige.partyOn the other hand, payment processing is complex enough even for medium-sized businesses to be willing to outsource it — so it's hardly surprising 😩

@m0xEE fair, but if you outsource it to a microsoft thing (I assume the "visualstudio.com" and "azure.com" links mean they use some microsoft service as payment processor), while your whole business is centered around safety and privacy, then ehhhhhhhh I'm not going to trust your product anymore 😅I'm sure there's better options out there? or is the payment processor landscape fully rotten these days?

@bazkie@beige.partyI'm currently quite limited in my choices. Being in Russia, I have to rely on my friends to generate card credentials for one-shot payments for me, I mostly stopped buying music and stuff like games and only do it for the bare necessities.Having to go through all this — scripts and trackers on payment pages are not the worst offender 😅But yeah, I think it's all pretty bad these days.
