@Zergling_man @feditips Stop making threads, just write an article and post it on your blog, then post a link on Fedi.

@m0xEE @feditips Oh that reminds me, I found a thing that I think is the idea I described a little while ago. a generic fedi plugin, you just configure it with a command to execute when a post is received, and it exposes a command to create and federate a post that you hook into your blog software. But I already forgot what it was called, I think it started with an h, I was looking for something else and found it right next to honk.

@Zergling_man @feditips Yeah, and you can always set up a hook that would post a link using one of the many available command line tools, or set up a cron job that would check RSS feed and post a link if something new came up — somehow I don't see the point in automating this, when posting a link on Fedi, I would probably like to add a comment or two, and maybe mention a few people who might be interested.

The significance of such a plugin is that the blog becomes a full-operational fedi node.>when posting a link on Fedi, I would probably like to add a comment or two, and maybe mention a few people who might be interested.Like, say, a blog title. As for mentions, the blog can trigger on a script that scrapes the post body for things that look mention-like and then passes that in in the appropriate field to the post command.

@feditips nah, i like bite sized chunks. I hate long text on Fedi. Every time i see a long post with "read more" and it onfolds i stop reading at half because it's boring. With threads people have a different form of drafting texts. Also threads allow for pictures, links and highlighrs as sources. In general I would just let people post how they feel comfortable, you can just filter if you don't like it.

@Zergling_man @feditips I've seen a WordPress plugin that enabled AP federation — it's pretty weird though as e.g. my snac2 instance starts attempting to propagate all activities to it and WP responds with "Sorry, I don't want that, it's unrelated to me" :marseyemojismilemouthtighteyes: My blog though is a gemlog — it's just a collection of markdown-formatted files with date prefixed to the file name, I don't see that point in turning even that into an instance.

@m0xEE @feditips >I've seen a WordPress plugin that enabled AP federationIt is specifically a wordpress plugin. The idea is that this thing will work with anything, you just put an appropriate command into the config file.>My blog though is a gemlog — it's just a collection of markdown-formatted files with date prefixed to the file nameIIRC when I spec'd it I also mentioned that it could run a file-watching daemon, for use when your blog is too simple to have a trigger mechanism to call it.>I don't see that point in turning even that into an instance.Yeah, reasonable. But a generic tool that gives you the option is a strictly good thing.>my snac2 instance starts attempting to propagate all activities to it and WP responds with "Sorry, I don't want that, it's unrelated to me"lol

@feditips yes and no.I think I prefer making an appendix post when later another semi separate but related thought about it emerges, than to edit the original. But written all at once threads kinda agree ^^
