The ‘root domain’ is .Just literally .If you’re referring to example.com. vs fedi.example.com. then that is a ‘second-level domain’, not the ‘root domain.’Root domain: .Top-level domain: com.Second-level domain: example.com.Subdomain: fedi.example.com.(The root domain can be omitted and generally is so it’d just be fedi.example.com in practice.)

@swaggboi Formally, a FQDN requires the trailing dot, but it seems to be universally omitted.
