Fellow Christians; Consider this final message from Scott Adams and debate if, in your opinion, this would get him in Heaven.

@maxburn his personal assessment of his own good works is very relevant to the question.Whether it sways it one way or another is a matter of opinion.

@maxburn As concerns Scott it is in God's hands now, but to the living:Luke 6:46 - "Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?"

"I am not a believer"Nope. Not gonna work. It takes belief, not taking a chance on the "risk-reward calculations"

@progo I think Paul's answer is better than any I can come up with; 'God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 'Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT

@maxburn Repentance was preached by John the Baptist, Jesus, Peter, Paul and others. Jesus cursed a fig tree that bore no fruit. Faith is manifested in the life of the believer else it is just a word and nothing more.

@maxburn -- it seems unlikely to me. My opinion is based on my feeble understanding, as a neophyte/newb Orthodox Christian, that Jesus Christ established the Holy Church, with its mysteries, sacraments and traditions, including the canon of Holy Scripture, and it provides the most effective tools and direct way to be reunited with God. Since Scott was on a much different path, it seems very unlikely he will end up at the same destination. At the same time, we are advised not to judge ...

@maxburn -- ...whether or not individuals outside the Church can be saved, since only God knows someone's soul, conscience, repentant heart and relationship with Him. And in His all-knowing wisdom and power, God can unite people to the Body of Christ through extra-normative means. So it is not for me to judge the current state/trajectory of Scott Adam's soul. Only God can judge/discern that.I can only say that I believe the Orthodox Christian Church, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit...

@maxburn -- ... maintains the fullness of the truth and Holy Traditions, the most accurate interpretation of the scriptures it canonized, the most complete understanding of salvation as an ongoing process, and provides the most direct path to God. And I can pray that Scott is truly repentant and can receive God's mercy (light and love). May he rest in peace.

@maxburn -- Here are a couple of my favorite lay Ortho apologists explaining (much better than I can) what seems to be the generally understood Orthodox Christian position regarding salvation for those who are outside the Orthodox Church.---------Jonathan Pageau RESPONDS: Who Goes to Hell?---https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uGSFgyjwGo---------Do Orthodox Christians Believe Protestants Are Saved? ‪@JayDyer‬---https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWMK194gmt8

@maxburn -- As a side note, I've come to believe all this to my own great surprise after being a lifelong agnostic, often even anti-theist, and initially investigating Christianity with a skeptical attitude similar to Scott Adam's and purely psychological interest similar to Jordan Peterson's. But, Glory to God, every step I've taken into the Orthodox Church has produced amazing fruits in my life and grounded my belief on first-hand experiences of the salvific Mysteries of God. :)

@maxburn It's really unwise to wait that long. We are not guaranteed that chance at the end. Death can arrive suddenly, and we are warned to be prepared (Math. 24:36-51).We do have an example of the thief on the cross... Ultimately, God is the judge of this so I say waiting is very dangerous but if a person throws themselves on the mercy of the Lord at the end who am I to say they will be heard or denied?

@MountainJay me too, agnostic for many years until I did some deep dives in religions. The Gospel was not the only one I considered but it’s the one I believed.
