I want to start from their most intimate moments and zoom out:1. People always say its so fucked up that Dragons want to kill humans when they are in their cave but you just woke them up in the middle of a huge sleep and you are a hostile stranger. Have you ever been woken up in the middle of sleeping by like a loud cricket or something? It's very fair that Dragons would be irate.2. On the subject of being a 'hoarder' of money and valuables. For one, thats their bed. They are a reptile with big coarse scales so all of that is actually quite comfortable for a dragon, it's not like they are paying for stuff. Also them 'stealing' money is literally a highly nessecary deflationary act in a time where the benefits of deflation were only stumbled on by accident without realizing their origin. Dragons were helping the economy in the terms of loaning agreements and consumption from spiraling out of control.3. Dragons would only ever hit the big highly fortified cities. That's where the corrupt guards and corrupt king live. Thats also a fair fight, for its where people are most likely to defend against a dragon. It makes sense to, if the corrupt King decides to tax the people too high he is at higher risk of attack by the dragon. In a matter of speaking the dragon was protecting the peasants by their own interests.4. Dragons are very beautiful creatures and now, no thanks to the marauding and meddling of humans are extinct. Was it worth it? I don't think so at all.
