@aral Man, I'm always conflicted w.r.t. "small web": I recently built a small toddler sleep tracker for shared use with my wife. I want to share the result and chose the simplest deployment option imaginable -- a single PHP file.In these situations I often think of you and wonder why you picked a different route, and what I am missing.

@ctietze What you’re doing is great. As a developer, I can grab a domain name, provision a shared server/VPS, lock the latter down with a non-root account, pop your one PHP file on it, point my DNS at it and start using my with my family.What I’m building is a peer-to-peer web where someone visits a web site, presses a button, perhaps initially agrees to pay an org ~€10/mo and, within 10 seconds, has their own web site at their own server where they can post publicly, be followed by others, and have end-to-end encrypted communication with others who have their own server.So they’re different things.Both are valuable.

@aral The thing I'm doing is absolutely inaccessible to normies, and I would be 100% a fan of making this easier. Like Flatpak app installation made it almost trivial to get software to run on a Linux machine. -- Well I guess Docker would promise that, but it's not yet simple enough. :(
