ICE and CBP police force are a post 9/11 creation, together with their parent organization Homeland Security.They further the reach of the Federal government into our daily lives. They spy on US citizens under the pretense of monitoring non-US citizens.Homeland Security, ICE and CBP have encroached on our freedoms and extended the surveillance state post 9/11.They are less accountable than a local police force and even less accountable than FBI. We don't need more Federal agencies and police forces.Tax payers will spend $115bn on the DHS in 2026, to fund their activities and 260k employees. I cannot imagine that money is being well spent.The sum of all local police force budgets was approx $135bn (2021). Local police have their issues as well but I prefer them over Feds anyday.

I don't ever want to deal with the feds. Wish there were none. But right now we aren't allowed nice things.In order to deport all the illegals there will likely be more. Citizens thinking they can obstruct law enforcement is not going to end in their favor. I listened to numerous mayor and sheriffs describe ICE as Trump's "New" army lol. The whole circumstance is shit. The illegals should never be here now we have to face it. The mantras people are spouting seem to represent a blue city seccession. If cities/states try to deploy cops to arrest feds then that is a constitutional crisis. One that can easily spiral.

Trump is going more for the shock and awe approach to deter new immigrants and encourage self-deportation. Which has worked.His actual deportation numbers are not great. They have not infact identified and deported that many illegals through their actions. Some of their actions like abducting people who turn up for immigration court appearances.Boring stuff like appointing more judges to deal with back logs of immigration cases would help more. Getting more people to deal with the administrative burden of processing and deporting that many people is more practical than expanding the ICE police force and performing shock and awe raids. I also worry about the practicality of deporting all illegal immigrants, requiring mass surveillance of all citizens. In order to identify illegals you must identify legals, that is to say everyone.

One of the main issues with the whole situation is the competence of the people involved.Cheney's administration was evil but they were pretty competent at accomplishing their goals.Trump's ego has forced most of the competent people out of his administration and we are left with Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem and Kash Patel. Rubio is pretty competent and is doing a lot of heavy lifting for the administration but he's super obsessed with Latin America and fighting his father's battles.

I generally think Trump is retarded, the cabinet is a bunch of dunces and I don't trust JD or whatever his name is. The state does the most stupid shit all the time and I can't stand most of it most of the time. That said I can be happy for the Venezualans who got randomly obsolved of Maduro and I can also think it beyond stupid to go drive around fucking with the feds and think you won't face potentially deadly consequences. I never hear a clear articulation of what it is that these liberals protecting illegals want for the country and since it only seems like they want to destroy our culture and general welfare I stand firmly opposed to that.
