       Because every uprising they've ever had was caused directly or indirectly by other nation's intelligence operations? Installing the Shah was done by a combination of UK and US intelligence forces to keep access to oil fields. The Shah  was such an authoritarian bastard that the people had a conservative uprising, giving way to the current Ayatollah, Ali Khamenei. Other failed revolutions like the color revolution, I think were very likely western intervention. Most people don't want to fight if things are tolerable, even if they're pretty bad. Either that or you have the North Korea situation where things are so bad there's literally no way out form under it, since their failing state is propped up entirely by Russia and China for cheap manufacturing.Maybe it's organic, but I'm pretty doubtful. New guy is converted former ISIS guy.The original agitation was organic; there was oppression. The repression is what people skip over. The Assad family was propped by Moscow, with assistance from Iran. And they gained power in the first place by bald faced murder.
