Got a question for home audio nerds. I'm looking for a 5.1 receiver with a single input. Everything I find is just a traditional stereo. Any thoughts?

@moshguy a mono signal input or one solitary input? I’m not understanding this.

@Haleakalacrater @moshguy Or 5.1 combined toslink?I’ve got a Yamaha I bought just as HDMI was being integrated into receivers so it doesn’t have the HDMI patchbay or wifi but it does toslink and component video switching…..

@Haleakalacrater @moshguy It also has the True Stereo button that makes it output on the main 2 while bypassing any filters or eq profiles.

@Murray_N @moshguy I have a Yamaha like that too but has HDMI, I like the Yamaha receivers. I bought a defective massive Yamaha unit too -it needs a circuit board, I never got around to fixing it. Yamaha offers parts and service manuals to common folk.

@Haleakalacrater @Murray_N Same here. I have an second hand Yamaha. It's worked great for years. Now the volume encoder is going bad, so it randomly messes with the volume.

@Haleakalacrater @moshguy I had a Pioneer I bought in like 2000 that I found the schematic for and actually had a Pioneer tech on the phone talking through something for like a hour or longer.Dude was great….must have been bored.I was bypassing the overload circuit because the thing would cut out when I was rocking out.I had everything figured out but got a loose strand of speaker wire shorting one channels output when I went to fire it up…….

@Haleakalacrater @Murray_N @moshguy This is good to know. I have an old Yamaha receiver (has to be 20+ years old) that I replaced with a newer Yamaha. The old one needs a fixing but I have not gotten around to looking into it. I imagine it’s still something an audiophile would appreciate.
