       well, no.  I mean, it's foolish and self-defeating for us to demand others to take control away from us in the tools we use.  we shouldn't be reinforcing this notion that it's even conceivably good for them to take control away from us, even when others use those affordances to do horrible things.  the tools we use should serve us and no one else, otherwise they will be used by their masters to turn us into their servants too.  and if we want to block certain uses collectively as a society, that should be done democratically, not by means of technofeudal controls.

       me neither.  but there are other things I use that are threatened by this sort of stance.  forcing all communication platforms to inspect all communications, and to scan them for unacceptable messages, are symptoms of the same calls for tech lords to take control into their own hands, and away from ours.  and then, when we force them to do so to comply with this sorts of demands, we end up subjected to their whims and enshittification and whatnot, because then they can.they shouldn't.  the demands amount to shooting ourselves in the private parts.
