According to the announcement from the White House -"The White House State Ballroom will be a exquisite addition of approx 90,000 total square feet of ornately designed space, with a seated capacity of 650 people."Some simple calculations show that the ballroom plus the East Colonnade occupy about 45,000 sq ft. of land. So, how do we get to 90,000 sq ft? From these two graphics, it does seem that the Ballroom building will have two levels above-ground, the tall Ballroom being on the upper level.
