I'd propose he's being pulled out of his world and into that of his son, which he cannot control. That anxiety from having no moral agency is what's led him to write this post. It's a cry for help, if anything.When it's me and my younger cat, I don't appreciate being pulled from what I'm doing to satiate her. I give her attention when I can spare it but she has no appreciation for what I'm doing, which may seem to her as if I'm being unpredictable or unapproachable. I can at least say when I was supposed to be attentive to a dietetics lecture while a family friend came around with her grand-daughter, I opted to play with them instead since I felt bad leaving them hanging. I hope to be like that with my own, even though not everything will be about having fun.
