I'm kind of at the point where I no longer want to offer friendly reminders to Americans that they aren't the only people in the world, and to get more aggressive with this assertion:If you're going to post things TO Americans, make that clear, because for the rest of us, when you try to tell us history of American aggression across the world, it's straight up patronising wank from fascist arseholes.Really, right now is time to sit the fuck down, because your country is the aggressor... it has always been the aggressor, and you've only just figured that out. Good for you#USpol

@sortius oh man, the shit I’ve been reading that makes it so abundantly clear that everything they act like they’re scared of now was something they’ve gone to great effort to create not just for themselves but the rest of us to deal with, not just in recent decades, but for well over a century. They made this go as badly as it’s gone. The last straw for me was a 1922 book by the American diplomat who foresaw & tried to stop Pearl Harbour (and very nearly did). They wanted this.

@chozari yep, it's part of American hegemony. I've seen it play out in person in Cambodia, even in The Maldives. My dad has worked across the world, either dealing with the fallout, or directly with, American hegemonic acts. From toppling governments through to pressuring the global south to reflect American laws, it's all about controlling the world.Maduro's abduction is just the latest in well over a century of meddling in others' affairs

@sortius Could. Not. Agree. More. Can you explain what you mean by the original toot? I read it like 3 times but I’m only half-sure I understand what you mean by the second bit. (I am 200% not being a jerk, I really actually feel like I get it! I don’t act like that on socials, I hate that shit.. sincerity only. 😊 )

@chozari I just see posts constantly acting like all this stuff is new information, like the world has been blinded by the light that is the US. No, it's Americans that have been blinded by their own ignorance. It's this assumption that if you're not American, you don't matter, or, worse, if you're not American, you're stupid.Neither are true, and I feel people from the US need to realise the world is about fed up with those attitudes. I've experienced them everywhere, even from "well travelled" Americans
