@fancysandwiches @sam These are Mastodon's limitations. For example, my server can display more images than Mastodon and it also can process stuff Lemmy sends.So I am wondering whether the ability to login to other servers is actually needed or we can achieve the same outcome by making a server that is compatible with many kinds of clients (e.g. Mastodon clients, Pixelfed clients, Lemmy clients).

@silverpill @sam I think it's pretty unreasonable to ask that every developer of a Fedi project support every feature of every other product. At that point what would differentiate the projects?

@fancysandwiches @sam There is already a lot of overlap between different platforms. They are mostly differentiated by how default client looks.
