Wow, seems the people farmers of surveillance capitalism have fully embraced scammer techniques now.Ran into this new flow on a number of sites just now (Indiewire, Variety, and RollingStone) delivered by the colossal douchebags at html-load.com who run report-error.com.They make it look like a browser error has occurred and then tell you to disable your tracker/ad blocker. To the asshole developers who built this for them instead of refusing: Fuck you for making everyone less safe. You dickheads are the problem.#surveillance #capitalism #surveillanceCapitalism #peopleFarmers #adtech #peopleFarming #BigTech #IWasJustFollowingOrders #reportErrorDotCom #htmlLoadDotCom #Indiewire #Variety #RollingStone

@aral Ah, I've seen this one. It's a bit extreme, but sometimes you can get around this by disabling scripts on the given site. It'll remove some functionality, but if you're just looking to read something, it still works!

@aral they'll find that all this will do is drop readership. It's what's been happening forever with the adblock blockers, yet they still don't get why

@aral Yeah, please disable your ad blockers. We need you to be prone to malwaretisement (malware advertisements).Don't you folks know that our friends who created the Predator or Intellexa malware can't install it unless you folks allow ads... so selfish of y'all? /s off #ffs ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ So uncool on so many layers.https://www.theregister.com/2025/10/02/eu_spyware_funding/https://www.icij.org/investigations/cyprus-confidential/predator-spyware-firm-intellexa-resurgent-after-u-s-sanctions/https://www.amnesty.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Executive-Summary_Predator-Files_English-1.pdfhttps://malpedia.caad.fkie.fraunhofer.de/details/win.predator

@aral You must be using only network-based ad blocking (not browser-based ad blocking), or using an inadequate blocker or a browser which doesn't support full-featured blockers. The malicious script causing the redirect is already blocked by this built-in #uBlockOrigin filters. It looks like you're using Safari. Try Firefox or one of its AI-free derivatives instead, and install uBlock Origin. https://ublockorigin.com

@aral Hi there! the folks behind this is called Ad-Shieldhttps://www.ad-shield.io/They intentionally distance themselves by not having their name shown on the block page. They are the most brutal anti-adblock I've ever seen. The gist of how it works is that it attempts to "recover" ads by loading them in via the html-load.com domain. But if it cant, the user shall be punished into submission by throwing up fake errors blaming your ad blocker for breaking the site.

@PRSXFENG @aral wow my brain simply doesn't compute this newspeak crazeยปThis is a type of adblocking traffic known as dark traffic, because it flies under the radar unmonetized, immune to conventional adblock recovery solutions.ยซ
