       I don't drink alcohol. I abhor the taste (like windex or other cleaning fluid) and get no euphoric or even mild buzzy effects. But not drinking is a real social handicap. People bond over drinks. Nice people want to give bottles of booze as gifts; I'm a lousy recipient. Many social events revolve around booze, as does most of the film industry. I'm fully cancelled from the latter now so it doesn't matter, but I do sometimes wish I were easier to buy gifts for.

       @ninapaley Similar problem - and I live in UK. A friend's solution was to bring a bottle of high-quality olive oil.
