Like I hope you all know that this colonial ass nonsense is the reason Cape Town currently has a housing crisis. It's all bnbs and ridiculously priced rentals meant to cater to the £ $ € combo.Like when the state itself starts offering a "digital nomads visa", while neighbouring Africans gotta jump through hurdles to get even a work visa, the gentrification is complete.

like I understand the need to leave a burning empire, but I wish some of y'all were more mindful about how deeply extractive digital nomad culture is.y'all spend a few months here, and our cultures become your aesthetic for your next season.the tech workers doing most of the dirty work in Africa to keep this dumbass machine running, get paid in actual dirt.

@imp3tuz I heard the term "digital nomad" from an ex coworker, looked into it for a few hours, and found the lifestyle deeply contemptible.
