I gotta come clean and admit that I haven't watched anime in almost 6 months. I feel burned out. It doesn't bring me the same joy I had before, at some point I felt like I was watching stuff for FOMO rather than enjoyment. Probably because I'm getting older, I don't know. Also I think most of the stuff nowadays isn't "for me" anymore. I tried to watch similar stuff that I used to be obsessed with, like for example, I've always been a huge fan of Oreimo, Haganai and other stuff that started as Light Novels, but it didn't hit the same, it was the most boring shit ever. Everytime I think of going back to watching anime I just want to rewatch older stuff.Not the mention the current state of fandoms as you all know very well. It's just disheartening.Back when I started watching anime, on Tumblr (fucking TUMBLR!!!!!!) you could openly talk about shota or any ship with any characters and literally no one gave a shit. Do you know how popular Ereri was back then? No one cared about their ages. Now if you say you like a character that's like 2 years younger than you they'll straight up dox you. Sometimes I want to splatter my accounts with DO NOT INTERACT IF YOU'RE YOUNGER THAN 26 YEARS OLD but ultimately it wouldn't be fair to people younger than me who are chill and, In the end, it isn't related to age at all, just how popular anime became. Probably, I don't even know anymore.I used to watch 15 anime seasonally working a full time job when I was 17, and if you told me to watch anything that wasn't Japanese animation I would laugh on your face. Fucks sake, I went to Japan for an anime I liked and to attend a doujin event. Now just the thought of watching anything anime related brings me pure dread. :anime_cry:Anyway people might say it's not that deep and tbh it's true. I feel retarded for feeling this way. Feeling like a part of my identity is slowly dying because of a stupid hobby. Or maybe it's just a phase, I don't know. It's all part of growing up I guess.

@Kyou Part of it is getting older and jaded, another part is that things are truly more lame and gay than before so it's difficult to enjoy things as one used to. Kinda happened to me with games, but I've recently gotten back into it and I've been enjoying it quite a lot.Older games truly just make me feel better and appeal to me more, so I kinda don't care anymore to keep up with newer stuff and I end up having more fun because of it. At the same time I have tried other genres that I had never gotten the opportunity to enjoy when younger and I've found some gems that I didn't know where there. Exploring new things is also cool :senkohm: As for the communities, I no longer interact with any of them and just play stuff and only discuss it with my IRL friends since any internet community is sure to be filled with the big gay :senkobaka:. That being said I enjoy playing older games and revisiting older videos/forum posts discussing them, from way back before shit became as lame and normified as it is now.As for getting older and more bitter, well not much can be done about it, it's the natural progression of things I'm afraid :dilbertsuicide:

@Kyou for me, it's that most of them all look the same, kinda feel the same. I'm not seeing a lot of difference in style tbh. Lot of either goody toe shoes or fake edge lord protagonist that lose it after episode 3.Everything feels safe imo. There's a few outliers here and there. Also the animation quality is going down. Only one I see trying is trigger.
