Got a filling the other day to mitigate hardcore toothache. Doc said may need a root canal, lets see. Next few days fine, no pain. Until last night. Now the throbbing pain goes right along with my heartbeat. The bow on top of the box being that the dentist is now closed until Jan 5. Gonna be living on alleve for 2 weeks! And throwing a big dinner partty the 26th. (Big as in 5 people, myself included… but I’m throwing down hard: sous vide steaks, garlic truffle mashed taters, etc!). I’m fkd!

@Unabart Best of luck. Is there such a thing as walk-in urgent care around there? If so, they can maybe get you something better, or even recommend someone who is open.

@Unabart massive bummer! No 24 hour dentists there? My wife needed an emergency root canal suddenly late on a Sunday night and found a 24 hour joint that took her in no problem. Hopefully you can get it fixed soon! In the meantime, I recommend Way Too Much Frop!

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. I have so much shit going on this week & next that I can’t burn a day waiting at urgent dental care, which I’m pretty sure doesn’t exist in Kaiserslautern. If I had already moved to FRA, I’d be in a better spot. Current landlord coming by tomorrow to discuss my leaving, Saarbrucken for xmas eve with Dr Shalin, xmas day at other friends and on the 26th my great steak party. 27th, I get the keys, 29th to Bavaria and back for work… too busy, mang! I shall endure!

@Unabart at this point any major thing like a root canal or even unclear pain I'm just getting the fscker ripped out and replaced with an implant. Had one done and it's just awesome. They put a nut in your jaw which grows in over a couple months and then a new tooth just screws into it. No nerves, no pain ever again. Rad.Anyway good luck over the fscking holidays. If things turn sour call 116117 and they'll direct you to your local emergency room.

@fedops The German insurance I have, ironically called AOK, considers implants to be a “vanity” item and therefore won’t cover it. Once the bone grows back (I can feel it growing), we’ll discuss next steps to replace the two teeth I’m already down. If I get this sore tooth removed, that’ll be 3 implants I need. 4.000,00€…. Per tooth.Might just get a bridge and say fuck it. But the dentist said we can try to get insurance to cover some of the implants. Have a couple more months to wait.

@Unabart they will usually cover the labor but not the lab and material. Same as with gold teeth. I paid about 1200 for mine out of pocket. Hella worth it.
