👉 Why do people use Slackware? One thing people often miss is continuity.Slackware isn’t just technically stable , it’s culturally stable. The same person, Patrick Volkerding, has guided it for 30 years with the same philosophy: don’t change things unless there’s a real reason. For many users, that long-term trust matters more than new features. You know what Slackware will be next year, and that’s rare today.#Slackware #Linux #UnixPhilosophy #FOSS

@r1w1s1 I'm in the process of moving to Slackware, but I am concerned about the implications of KDE's announcement that they will be going Wayland-only.

@publius @r1w1s1 I'd look at shifting off of KDE in that situation. I've been using Openbox ever since I transitioned to it from TWM in the nineties, and I've never regretted it. (Although some folks want me to dig into Fluxbox, and I'm considering it. The integrated tabbing support is compelling.)

@mason @r1w1s1 I've never actually used KDE (I'm running XCFE), but I've been using the various KDE applications because it's more convenient, eg, to use Kile than to separately install TeXStudio. And I've really been hoping to get back into video editing, which there seems to be a real dearth of usable Linux tools for, with the big exception of KDEnlive.
