Hello computer people this is a GitHub thing that I would like to investigate but I Am Not Good With Computer. I’m not even 100% sure which platform it wants (current Mac I think). Just open an interface and type?#3d #ai #notgoodwithcomputerhttps://github.com/apple/ml-sharp

@lardmotel Should work on on windows, linux, and mac with Python 3.13, which you might need to install if it isn't already on your computer. video rendering needs a NVIDIA GPU (CUDA only). You need to use the terminal.

@lardmotel Same deal for this one but it needs a NVIDIA GPU so it won't work on Mac.For both of these install miniconda first and then follow the instructions on GitHub.

@erici Rockin' thanks for the confirmation - I'll try on a CUDA based PC. Used to the CLI on PC, not so much the mac.

@lardmotel @erici One thing to look out for is this might want a Python repacking called Anaconda. Just a hint from all those “conda” refs.

@lardmotel @erici Personally, I regretted installing Anaconda on a Mac years ago, but it could be good for this.

@blurk @lardmotel yes the best way is to install miniconda. I should have said that.

@blurk @erici I’d successfully installed minicondaBut at step 2 it gives me a ‘no such file’ which I’m sure I could figure out if I had nothing else to do in life 😀Actually sitting at the breakfast table I suddenly have an idea of what might work…(It’s like drugs)

@lardmotel Well sometimes it is a lot easier to get like an application say for windows that installs with a msi installer and that is it. It looks to me a lot of this stuff you found uses python, which is platform independent, but may call helper applications or python modules. Looking at it I am kind of glad it isn't my headache. In Linux I've gone down the lets compile something there is no official package for and it gets complicated some times.

@lardmotel Just for fun I tried to run your thing to see if it would just work on my system. It failed needing something called pytorch which is not in the addons manifest for Fedora 38. My Fedora is kind of old now but I have not got around to upgrading it. My computer at my parents is Fedora 41.

@ddarc The effort required to run the demonstration is not worth the time. This is a tool that adds depth into still images - which could be useful for me in make 3D environments but it's not ready for production. Wait a bit.

@lardmotel Hi again. Over at my parents I gave the HY World program another go. I tried to avoid using the pip installer, but I did. In the end after adding some stuff with pip, doing some .so version linking, and running their download script it did start up, but it made the 16GB computer run out of memory so we will never know. It also filled my hard drive with stuff I think I have to get rid of for space. My parents have unlimited internet so it was ok. Big prob was disc thrashing.

@ddarc It just presents a proof of concept. That is - "we can do something". But it doesn't really offer a useful process for doing anything. So we just wait for somebody to to turn it into a tool.
