Když se setmí, přichází Tvá chvíle pro nákupy v Lidlu.that's kind of horrible if you think about it privacy-wise (they really did some data analysis on the time of the day I go shopping and using the lidl app), but also hillarious

@ww they are not even like very big discounts, I save 30 cents on a typical ~15e shopping (i don't buy that much, just more frequently)

@piggo it's actually quite annoying to use it because you need to scan a qr code from it and the ios one is fairly slow to load and i think it even needs to load something online, making it even more annoying, i have absolutely no idea why i use it, really just for the laughs, the discounts are laughable

@pony that's a sad discount, i probably wouldn't even bother getting ithere stores have members-only prices that can sometimes be a lot lower than their regular ones, but instead of discount cards or phone numbers, everyone wants your national identification number, cross-checked against the government database. so it's like, a privacy nightmare. you can't even lie about your birth date, cause it'll reject you :KuromiSkull:

@ww there are layers upon layers of discounts in the supermarkets, there's often a special price with the loyalty card and also you get "personalized" discounts in this app (they seem to be actually personalized, I get them on stuff I actually buy often), but I find it very hard to imagine it being worth of effort, unless it's some big promo discount on something which you genuinely know is more expensive most of the time(then the worst are the fast fashion chains where you can be 100% sure literally anything you buy will have a sticker with at least one price higher than the one you're actually going to pay)

@pony yeahh there's all of that here too. like there's a store where you activate your personalized discounts in the app, and then when you say your id number at the checkout, it applies them automatically. kinda weird.plus the bank promos. every bank/digital wallet has a discount in every store but on a different day of the week. so ideally you'd have like 10-15 payment apps and just pay with whichever is cheaper at the moment. oh and sometimes it's cheaper paying with a physical card, sometimes with google/apple pay and sometimes with a qr code. and the qr payment might need to come from a specific type of card too.i mostly shop at small non-chain stores though, so i rarely have to think about any of that. and the big store where it would actually be worth it figuring out the personalized discounts doesn't like my id card, so i can't sign up. while the small chains didn't have any issues with it.

@ww not really thinking about it too much, the groceries aren't that crazy expensive and the main concern otherwise is actually if they let me to pay for allowed items with the meal vouchers (that may not be nominally the cheapest, but it saves the "actual" money)... the most annoying "deal" is the phone company having a partnership with specific bank in which they give me moneyback on the monthly payment that amounts to like 35% of it, but it has to be this specific bank, it's kind of weird

@pony how do the meal vouchers work?two of the three cellphone carriers here have their own digital wallets, so they really want you to sign up for that. the promo for mine says it'll triple your top-up amount. but if i understand correctly, that extra money can only be spent on phone calls and texts, not data, so it's kinda pointless.

@ww it's a tax scheme really, your employer will talk to a very french corporation with friends in places (it doesn't have to be french, but *somehow* most of the major ones are) and they will pay you some amount in either fake cash or fake digital account and a payment card that can only be spent on food and it doesn't have to be taxed (the voucher company will of course have fees), the ideological reason is to motivate people to eat better at work (and they are actually very popular among workers)

@ww well, as long as you are going to use tax to ideologically nudge people into buying or not buying things (previous gobo invented 0 VAT bracket for books to throw a bone to, uh, nobody even knows whom, to look "smart")

@pony but it's one thing nudging them into spending their money in a free market in a specific way, kinda everyone does that to an extentand a completely different one forcing them into some wack closed ecosystem with like one foreign company that benefits from the scheme

@ww yeah it's kind of weird, the entire business is based on a tax incentive (actually i think it's sort of a mandate at some employee count threshold, you literally have to) but it's also very private with little regulation in its B2B part, there is now even a tax option to pay it directly in money, yet everyone wants the vouchers and there'd probably be a popular revolt if you took it away
