@charlie_root I grew up with people with technical abilities, although cool folks, definitely not nerds, drinking weekends, getting into fights. They grew up with Commodore and Amiga tinkering when kids, and adopted computers early without being actual nerds.

@Dicey I grew up in America and I explicitly remember schools not treating computers as a real future or marketable skill in the early 2000's. More as a consumer funtoy no different than a Nintendo 64.I think this same logic is being used about AI but I've seen it take a huge leap in abilities in just one year. Is it flawed, of course, all technology is flawed. However it will continue to be refined and it's not going away no matter how much people hate it. I think the correct prevailing attitude should be to learn about it and adapt to the future.

@charlie_root I use AI, I mean its useful for me. Just as something to use to get fast information. its more or less a search utility right now, its reasoning is not very good, but just to ask it to grab sources from primary sources, compile the different sources and present them, it saves a lot of time. so its useful, just a long time from being actual able to have any reason capability. perhaps never. what they are saying is LLM's is a flawed concept in itself, largely useless for reasoning. Theres also a AI bubble waiting to happen. AI is heavily invested in, without generating even a tiny percentage of investments. economically it doesnt seem viable
