       Watching a lightsaber duel in Star Wars Visions S03E01 & it occurs to me all their guns are plasma blaster based. Mythbusters showed that the plasma blob moves slow, almost to where you can dodge it at a distance. That makes it easy to deflect using The Force alone. Nobody uses a pure laser beam, I doubt if even a lightsaber does, its more a contained plasma sword. So a real laser could kill a force user at a distance. Kylo Ren only stopped a plasma bolt in flight, can't stop a laser.

       @klaatu I think you may be over thinking this, Lucas only made star wars as a fantasy because he wanted to bang one or all or his sisters.

       Its said that the samurai era ended when westerners introduced firearms to feudal Japan. All the discipline and training it too to master sword mele fighting could not compete with ranged weapons that could penetrate armor and kill in one shot. If one could introduce truly deadly laser guns to Star Wars all force users would suffer the same fate. Ray shields may deflect a laser or not, but no FU uses a personal shield like in Dune.
