@js Are most of the TTS podcasts you're seeing coming from Spreaker?

@dave they are all over, every hostit's like they all decided at the same time to hit the gas recently (last few months) with mass slop production, after testing out with one or two shows earlier in the yearI guess the glass-half-full view is that many hosting companies are making it super simple to upload tons of stuff, good jorb guys!

@js @dave For the record: we did not release a public API to enable AI content dumping (if it happens, it is a byproduct). The goal is automations (Zapier, IFTTT) and integrations with third-party audio apps that have long asked to publish via API. And by “vibe coders experimenting with AI” I meant using AI to build automations faster. Zapier’s new “ask AI to build it” interface is just one example: I described a Zap that publishes on RSS.com via our API and it worked right away.

@js @dave This ties into the AI disclosure conversation, especially for AI hosts. I care less about AI used elsewhere in the workflow (eg cleanup),but asking to tag AI hosts would improve our data. There are 2 GitHub discussions on this, and I raised it in the PSP too,but nothing actionable came out yet. Spreaker is already asking for disclosure in their UI,but there is no tag to express it in RSS feeds. We are not reacting fast enough. eg A new attribute for the person tag is a low-hanging fruit

@alberto @js @dave What’s holding you back from implementing this today?

@nathan @alberto @js We could just go ahead and describe a <podcast:bot>/<podcast:automated>/<podcast:ai> type tag who's purpose is to tag a feed as *wholely* automated where no human appears in the pipeline?

@nathan @alberto @js I think that has been the hold up. How to define where the threshold is when it crosses the line from human to slop.

@dave @nathan @js Nathan we did not move forward yet because we were trying to reach consensus, or at least a quorum. But those conversations on GitHub have had no interaction for the past 2 months.Asking podcasters to tag when the host is AI, similar to how we ask about explicit language would not necessarily mean the content is slop (nobody would ever tag their episodes as slop), but it would allow more sophisticated behavior and better UX in podcast apps, and better data overall.

@alberto @dave @js Totally fair! To be clear, I’m not convinced any version of this tag will gain traction without an incentive for shows to adopt it.My fear is that if we don’t roll out *something*, then one day we’ll wake up to a press release from Apple/Spotify/etc. saying they’ve implemented their own resource-intensive auto-AI-detection, and third-party apps will have no budget to compete.

@alberto @dave @js IMO the right way to draw the threshold is to ask, "If a major app rolled out auto-AI-detection, what listener-facing features would that enable?" and then ask ourselves, "If a tiny app wanted to offer listeners those same features, what new tags would get us there?"Of course, if the new tags require broad adoption before they reach parity with the auto-AI-detection resource-intensive version, then they will struggle to gain any traction.

If hosting platforms are starting to ask about the host, @nathan https://github.com/Podcastindex-org/podcast-namespace/discussions/731Extending podcast:person would be really easy to implement. For a more future proof tag I think @theDanielJLewis https://github.com/Podcastindex-org/podcast-namespace/discussions/669podcast:disclosure could fit all the use cases. But I agree that better to find the perfect tag it's to do something and improve later if needed. Would be great if PSP reach a minimum quorum.Hosting platforms asking to disclose this it's a key component on this been useful. IMHO. @alberto @dave @js

@DavidMarzalC @nathan @theDanielJLewis @alberto @dave @js I think we have a tremendous opportunity here. If all the apps that us the index will report to us the organizations and companies that are publishing TTS podcasts, we can just block all of them. Market all our apps as TTS FreeNo AI SlopProvide a way for your users to report slop they find. This is not a problem that needs a technical fix it's a marketing opportunity.

@adam @DavidMarzalC @nathan @theDanielJLewis @alberto @dave @js This is what I've come up with to address ai slop on v4vmusic.com It's a crowd sourced tagging systemFilter out AI and Spamhttps://v4vmusic.com/search?type=albums&excludeTags=spam%2CaiInclude only AIhttps://v4vmusic.com/search?type=albums&tags=ai&excludeTags=spamSo far I have 984 Songs tagged as aiThe beauty is it's user controlled, if a user wants ai, they get it if they don't they can filter it out..There's also an api (though not tested 🙂)https://v4vmusic.com/public-tagging-api.html
