The investment, the premiums paid by Albertans into their public healthcare insurance system over a lifetime of work are being flat-outSTOLENby privatization:They paid into the public system their whole working lives, but now they must pay up again, privately.#UCP #Alberta #Canada #HealthAct#Privatization

@Twisted666 For access to the level of TIMELY healthcare they've already paid into for their entire working lives?Apparently it's roughly $5,000 for families and $2,000 for an adult in Alberta now."Health Canada, at the time, said a membership system was contrary to a federal law protecting people from paying for medically necessary care, as it meant Albertans were paying for preferential access to doctors."https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/alberta-patients-paying-clinic-membership-fees-get-better-care-audit-suggests-1.7599027

@goinfawr Membership? It's strange - where did the money they already paid with, go - shouldn't that, then, be accessible in some way, i mean??

@Twisted666 In Canada the feds transfer a whack of cash to the provinces for healthcare, who in turn decide their own delivery methods. Theoretically the provinces are supposed to provide HC services as outlined in the Canada Health Act, but Alberta's premiere/admin. are acolytes of orban, 45, and the house of saud, and are currently ruling by decree, stripping their citizens of constitutionally guaranteed rights with impunity

@Twisted666 @goinfawr In Canada we have provinces, which are approximately equivalent to states in the USA. And yes, Alberta is basically Canada's version of Texas.

@toiletpaper @goinfawr Ahaa - so they are, politically, like Texas? Conservative of sorts? Hell, i can't believe the troubles people got to endure in this life - thank god it's not eternal.. Here in Sweden we don't really got problems of that kind...

@Twisted666 @goinfawr Alberta is a mixed bag. On the one hand they're politically conservative, and so tend to regard fundamental rights like free speech, bodily autonomy, and gun ownership, etc, as inviolate and non-negotiable. But on the other hand they're also oil barons who care little for environmental integrity and indigenous sovereignty, and heavily biased in favour of fundamentalist Christinanity. For the former reasons I'm tempted to move there, but for the latter reasons I probably never will.Similarly I'd hesitate to move to Sweden because it seems like your government (and possibly the population as a whole) are thoroughly infected by the woke mind virus, and really don't care about many of the human rights I consider fundamental and inalienable. But I do like a lot of other things about Sweden like the natural environment, allemansrätten, the history (especially pre-Christian), attractive women, etc.

@toiletpaper @goinfawr I like Norse Mythology AS WELL! But, true story, i once met an Pizza Baker from some Middle East country...i asked casually, what he believed in, like what's your religion, WITHOUT HESITATION he said "Nordiska Mytologin"There's a great vision from turning away from all todays Religions and look at Norse Mythology - i believe a great deal in that nordic of Epos I see it as a DIVINE way to LOOK UPON EARTH, comes with that Mythology - even a Arab Pizza man had enamored it

@Twisted666 @goinfawr I hope that shift comes part and parcel with greater respect for the Sami people and the protection of the natural environments their traditional ways of life depend on.

@toiletpaper @goinfawr Yes, the sami are great - but the sami hasn't been as mistreated as the natives in US - the sami got good lives, it's great here, i live in Norrland myself....lots of mosquitos, though - but i'm in love with this particular Nature here, the tiny little mountains, i like this land of little hills, more that the flatness i South.. Norrland is a peaceful region, and people are mostly peaceful, here..
