Reminder, if your digital life is stored in a cloud and you don't have a backup that you fully control, then it's very possible to lose all of it, in an instant, and with no recourse. Do *NOT* trust the cloud. For anything. Always maintain your own backups.https://cloudisland.nz/@parisba/115710491106723110

@quixoticgeek Now imagine a world where you fully embrace passkeys instead of passwords and use iCloud Keychain to backup and sync them 😬

@mackaj @quixoticgeek The number of places that theoretically 'support' passkeys but don't do this is troubling; but when dealing with a proper implementation the nice thing is that you can have more than one; much as you would with a real key. Not ideal for rapidly changing accounts, where keeping 'backup' key storage in sync becomes a pain; but using icloud keychain to EZ-provision new devices while having a yubikey on the keychain, in your desk, and in a deposit box is absolutely an option.

@fuzzyfuzzyfungus @mackaj @quixoticgeek But you still have a yubikey sync problem… now you have to remember what keys you added to keychain, then sync them to your yubikey on your keys and the backup one in a deposit box…
