       @judgedread I went on a horseback ride through a ghost town from the early 1900s a couple years ago. We strolled through an old graveyard. At least half the gravestones were for small children. Suffering was so commonplace back then, and at a scale most can't imagine.

       @thegoodfolk Was watching some documentary and the candid photos of normal men even as late as 1900 are so fucking grim. That American Gothic bleakness.
