@netspooky i'm using that exact graphic for silk on the high voltage plane on my payphone power board! that's reddy kilowatt!

@netspooky 3.3V is high voltage to me. Most of the IO pins on the FPGAs I use aren't rated for higher than 1.8.

@netspooky That’s a reasonable plate voltage in a vacuum tube tv. The high voltage was in kilovolts.

@netspooky @catsalad hey! That's me when some 'data center' dude claims 208 3ph 60A is high power! Or that +48VDC 3kA is high power!Yes, that 'DANGER: EXPLOSIVES' sign is legitimate.

@netspooky everything that bites to touch is low voltage. Anything higher bites on sight wirelessly 😄

@netspooky If it can't jump out and bite you a couple of centimeter from the wire, is it even voltage?

@netspookyIEC standards state that anything under 1000 Vac or 1500 Vdc is low voltage. We're just following the law of the land 🤷

@netspooky 9V? But that's *clearly* high voltage! It tickles on the tongue!

@netspooky My first profession was radio-/tv-technician, when crt-tvs were still a thing and even b/w-tvs were still around and had to be repaired every once in a while. The high voltage in a colour tv is higher than in a b/w tv (around 35kV compared to about 20-25kV) and also stabilized unlike the high voltage in a b/w unit.My boss always told the new apprentices the difference between a colour tv and a black & white tv: if the technician accidentally touches the high voltage in a black and white tv, the technician shortly twitches and then the high voltage breaks down. If they touch the high voltage in a colour tv, the voltage shortly twitches and then the technician breaks down.Unfortunately one of the apprentices once accidentally tested and proved that theory. (They survived but had to stay in hospital for a day.)
